How we work

A free audit, about a week, and no jargon.

Most people arrive here having been sold jargon at least once. So this page is the whole method written out plainly — what the free audit actually contains, what happens on each build day once your content is in, and an honest answer about how long search really takes afterwards.

Stephan Aguilar, founder of Seen Retail

Hi, I'm Stephan. I run Seen Retail myself out of Oregon. I built this because every retail owner I know was getting sold the same overpriced agency package. You'll talk to me, not a sales rep, not a queue. Stephan Aguilar, founder.

Step one · day zero · free

What is a digital audit, and what do I actually get?

A written document about your business, not a sales deck with your name pasted on it. It takes us a couple of hours and a fifteen-minute call with you. You keep it either way, and most of what it recommends you could do yourself for nothing.

01

Snapshot

Where you turn up today — Google results, the Maps pack, and what AI assistants say when someone asks them for a business like yours. Usually the first time an owner has seen all three side by side.

02

What is already working

Nearly every business has something going for it — a name close to what people search, a good rating, a location advantage. We say what it is, because building on it is cheaper than starting over.

03

What is costing you customers

The problems, biggest first, each with what it is costing you in plain terms. No score out of a hundred, no red-and-green dashboard — just the list in the order we would fix it.

04

Where the opening is

What nearby businesses are doing that you are not, and which of those gaps are actually worth closing. Some are not.

05

Your next three moves

Specific, ordered, and mostly free. Claiming a profile costs nothing. If the honest answer is that you do not need us yet, that is what it will say.

There is no catch and no obligation. We do these because they are the fastest way for both of us to find out whether there is a job here worth doing. If there is not, you have still got a useful document out of it.

Step two · days one to seven

What happens once you send us your content?

Once your photos and opening hours are in, this is the run of it — one email a day, each a short paragraph and a link, so you can watch it happen without chasing anyone. Those two things are genuinely all we need from you, and how fast they arrive is what sets the date.

Day 1
Structure and page planWe decide what pages exist and what each one is for. Most shops need five, not fifty.
Day 2
Design, built around your photosYour actual shop, your actual products. This is the day it stops looking like a template.
Day 3
Copy written for youWe write it. You are not handed a document full of blanks to fill in on a Sunday.
Day 4
Search, schema and your Google profileThe structured data that lets Google and AI assistants read what you sell, plus your profile brought up to date.
Day 5
Chatbot training, if you are having oneIt learns your products, hours, policies and directions. Skipped entirely if you are not.
Day 6
Your reviewYou look at the whole thing and tell us what is wrong. We keep going until you are happy with it — there is no revision limit and nobody is counting.
Day 7
LivePointed at your domain, submitted to Google, and yours. Nothing goes live until you have looked at it and told us it is right.

Step three · once it is live

How long until this actually works?

Two different answers, and most agencies only give you the flattering one. Some of this works the day it goes live. The rest compounds, and pretending otherwise would just set you up to be disappointed in week three.

Working the day it launches

Your websiteLive, fast, readable on a phone, and yours.
Your Google Business ProfileCorrect hours, categories, photos and description. Often the single biggest same-week difference.
Your chatbotAnswering from the moment it is switched on, including at eleven at night.
Live inventoryIf your register is connected, the site is accurate immediately.

Builds over weeks and months

Ranking in the map packUsually weeks. Proximity and reviews matter as much as anything we do, and reviews take time to accumulate.
Being named in AI answersAssistants have to re-crawl and re-learn you. Structured data speeds it up; nothing makes it instant.
Ranking for competitive searchesMonths, honestly. A five-year-old competitor has five years of signals you do not.
Your rating climbingAs fast as customers leave reviews, which is faster when something is actually asking them to.

Anyone promising you page one by Friday is selling you something. Local search is a compounding game, and the shops that win it are the ones still posting and still collecting reviews in month six. That is the whole trick, and it is why the monthly services exist — not because the website was somehow incomplete.

The other half of the answer

What we don’t do

Worth saying out loud, because most of these are things that have been done to people we now work with.

We don’t hold your website hostage

The build is one-time and the site is yours. Stop paying us for anything monthly and the website stays up and stays yours. Cancelling search work does not take your site down.

We don’t lock you into a contract

Everything monthly is month to month with thirty days’ notice. If it is not earning its keep, stop it.

We don’t sell you automation you are too small for

The invoicing and missed-call tools need a real flow of calls and invoices to be worth the money. If you registered your business last month, we will tell you to start with the website instead.

We don’t promise rankings

Nobody can, and the ones who do are counting on you not checking. We will tell you what usually happens and roughly when.

We don’t run your ads

Everything here is about being found without paying per click. If paid ads are genuinely the right answer for you, we will say so and point you somewhere.

We don’t hand you homework

Your hours and about five photographs. That is the whole ask. We write the words.

I work where you work. Mostly Oregon.

Big agencies sell 'national reach' you don't need. You need to be the first result when someone in your zip code searches for what you sell. That's a different game. Closer to walking your block than running ad campaigns. I've walked the block.
